Chicken pox is a highly contagious virus that spreads from person to person by direct contact or through the air by sneezing or coughing. The most common symptoms of chicken pox are rash and fever with the rash usually developing on the scalp and body, and then spreading to the face, arms, and legs. The rash usually forms itchy blisters in several successive crops.
All children in Washington state are required to be vaccinated before the start of the 2016-2017 school year.
